Andy Staves is the guitarist and vocalist with Paul Carrack and also half of the twin guitar duo Deliverance. He has played in live bands since the age of 16, touring with Lifestyle in the 1980s and Scooby Blues in the '90s which morphed into Mahogany Newt. Andy has gained a wealth of experience from theatre tours and sharing festival stages with the likes of Joe Bonnamassa, Radiohead, Toyah and Art Garfunkle amongst others.
He makes great use of the experience he has gained touring in the UK and Europe - including an appearance on The Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury in 2017 enabling him to deliver a top-class performance while fronting Mahogany Newt.
Paul brings a tremendous amount of experience to Mahogany Newt, delivering first class bass and vocals.
Previous bands include; Dynamite Brothers, The Italians, Mr. President, Brit Pop and tribute acts One Vision (Queen), Heart of Glass (Blondie) and Robbie’s Millennium (Robbie Williams). He has also played for Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet).
During his career Paul has performed with The Bee Gees, Status Quo, Curtis Stigers, Kim Wild and Suggs (Madness). He has also appeared on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio 1 Roadshow, James Whale TV Show and Nickelodeon.
Mahogany Newt takes great pleasure in welcoming new sticks man Steve Richardson (aka Riki Ricardo) to the band in 2020.
Steve brings a wealth of experience to The Mighty Newt having spent 10 years as the kingpin of top function band OKTC. Steve’s powerful drumming style and dynamic personality bring a fresh element to the band enabling us to continue to develop and deliver top class performances at every venue.
Mahogany Newt is a commercial rock and pop band performing high energy classic covers from the greatest bands in the world.
The band has developed into a top-class act delivering an outstanding show with live vocals, guitar, drums, bass and keyboards. First-rate musicianship combined with excellent sound and fully synchronised lighting make it a truly professional arena experience.
Mahogany Newt can taylor their show to suit many venues, keeping the set bright and commercial for more cabaret venues or harder hitting for more discerning rock fans.
